Energy Assistance
Two programs are available through the Human Resource Development Councils to help members with the cost of heating their homes during the winter months.
Low Income Energy Assistance Program (Lieap)
- Pays for a portion of winter heating bills (and emergency furnace repair, if necessary) for eligible families.
- Owners and renters, alike, may apply. Any heating source is acceptable.
- Eligibility is based on the family's gross income.
- Income guidelines are 150% of poverty. Call HRDC for schedule.
- Applications are taken in both the Lewistown (406-535-7488) and Roundup (406-323-3857) HRDC offices.
Universal System Benefit Funds (USB Funds)
- Funds may be available in certain cases in which a person may not qualify for other energy assistance programs.
- Funds are available once a year for a heating bill or heating system repair/replacement.
- Income guidelines are 150% of poverty.
- Applications are taken in both the Lewistown (406-535-7488) and Roundup (406-323-3857) HRDC offices.
