Fergus Electric is billed monthly for wholesale power. Our power provider bills Fergus Electric a Base Charge, an energy charge, as well as a peak demand charge. Fergus has designed our General Service Rate similarly to our monthly power bill.<\/p>\n\n

Base Charge: <\/strong>This minimum monthly charge is designed for the Cooperative to recoup its costs related to the infrastructure necessary to serve a given category of a load. Fixed costs will vary from co-op to co-op and from one rate category to another as they are based on how many poles, wires, and other equipment is necessary to serve a given category of a load.<\/p>\n\n

Energy Charge: <\/strong>All energy usage is metered in kilowatt-hours. A kilowatt-hour is the amount of energy necessary to light one 100-Watt light bulb for 10 hours or one 1,000-Watt light bulb for one hour.<\/p>\n\n

Peak Demand Charge:<\/strong> The highest average demand over a 15-minute period within the billing period, represented in kilowatts (KW), during FEC\u2019s peak hours which are:<\/p>\n\n

October 1st \u2013 December 31st: 6:00 a.m. \u2013 9:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m. \u2013 9:00 p.m.<\/li>\n\t
Peak demand charges will not be applied to demand values occurring outside these hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
